A practical reset for the year ahead
As the new year gets underway, a lot of businesses start thinking about what needs to change.
With tech, that reflection often turns into frustration. We tend to blame tech stress on complexity.
More often, it comes from not having a clear reference point for making decisions.
When there’s no shared frame for how systems are meant to support the business, every choice requires fresh effort. Even small ones. Over time, that effort compounds into fatigue.
Nothing is usually “wrong”.
Things still work.
They just feel heavier than they should.
I see this most often in businesses that have grown organically. Tools were added to solve real problems. Processes adapted as needed. Workarounds became normal.
Individually, each decision made sense.
Collectively, they created friction.
And that’s often the point where it becomes useful to pause, take stock, and get a simple snapshot of what’s actually happening — before changing anything.
Getting clear on these facts is a strong first step toward reducing that friction.

All the best for 2026!
